Dream For Real

Our communities are filled with chances to partake in singing, dancing and acting.  Whether you are school age or retired, there are many of activities that invite us to use our presentation skills, and, additionally, lots of these activities use presentation talents in combination with creativity.  These outlets are excellent chances to meet different people and to refresh yoursenses.  It is exciting to tap our artistic elements, and when we are able to share this with other people it can be quite rewarding.

Many individuals, young and old alike, are intimidated by the arts, particularly those that demand getting up in front of other people.  Whether it is giving a book report to the class or making a toast, most people are nervous of presenting in front of others.  Some people think it is scarier to be in front of people they know, and some people are convinced being in front of strangers is in fact scarier.  Whichever one accounts for the angst, it is really a matter of getting comfortable with the concept, and at the end of the day there isn’t anything to be frightened of.  Indeed, it has been studied that a so-called audience, either friends or strangers, really roots for the individual doing the presenting; the audience wants the performer to have success.  This is good news for anyone who is tempted to get up and sing or speak or act in front of others.

The additional happy news is that practice really does make a difference when it comes to performance of any kind.  The more one does it the more comfortable one becomes not only with the idea of doing it but actually doing it.  This may offer a huge sense of accomplishment as well as a totally exhilirating rush.  It is a way of positively pushing one’s own limitations and doing that in front of other folks as a really different experience and a super engaging way of sharing with the surrounding world.

Vocal instruction is a wonderful chance to become more and more comfortable with presenting.  Vocal instruction does not have to be a reasone for pressure either.  It can be totally accessible, and there are even places for online voice lessons.  After a handful of practices, it becomes fun, and pretty soon joining the community theater association or choir or trying out for a school play is not just a dream but a reality that brings much enjoyment.
